Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Certification by TASN
- Food handlers certification
- Food manager certification level 1 preferred
- Three years of experience in institutional food service operations
- Ability to lift 16-18 pounds and work in teams for heavier loads
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to manage and supervise personnel
- Knowledge of food safety and health codes
- Compliance with TDA and school policies
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control
- Prolonged standing and frequent kneeling or bending
- Work in commercial kitchen environment with exposure to hazards
- Punctuality and responsibility for attendance
- Adherence to uniform and safety procedures
- Effective communication skills
Job Qualifications

- Certified by Texas Association of School Nutrition (TASN)
- Food manager certification preferred
- Food handlers certification
- Knowledge of food preparation methods and kitchen equipment
- Ability to manage and supervise personnel
- Basic computer skills for communication and record keeping
- Knowledge of weights, measures, and recipe interpretation
- Three years experience in institutional food service operations
- Familiarity with health codes and safety regulations
- Effective planning and organizational skills

Job Duties
- Assist the cafeteria manager with all major responsibilities
- Operate a point of service system for meal exchanges ensuring reimbursable meals
- Produce and maintain work schedules and production records
- Direct and assist daily activities in kitchen and cafeteria
- Maintain serving schedules and ensure adherence to menu specifications
- Cooperate with campus principal to manage schedule changes and resolve personnel issues
- Supervise and train cafeteria employees promoting teamwork and morale
- Participate in lifting teams for heavy objects
- Ensure safe and high-quality food production
- Maintain accurate daily production and payroll records
- Store food items safely and maintain cleanliness and safety standards
- Report hazards and ensure safe working environment
- Monitor food and supply inventory and equipment maintenance
- Conduct preventive maintenance and recommend equipment replacement
- Train cafeteria workers and advise on personnel matters
- Comply with Texas Department of Agriculture and school policies
- Inspect storage areas regularly for proper temperature and sanitation
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to uniform and safety protocols
- Communicate positively with staff and supervisors
- Verify daily food deliveries for accuracy
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Maintain responsibility and punctuality
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or director
