Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in community relations, public engagement, or related area
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical data
  • Proficiency with geographic information systems (GIS) and data visualization tools
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to attend public meetings and events as required
  • Willingness to work on-site three days per week per MAC’s remote work policy.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, environmental science, urban planning or related field
  • Experience managing community engagement or public relations programs preferably in transportation or aviation sectors
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills managing teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Skilled in data analysis, report writing and use of GIS or related mapping tools
  • Experience facilitating public meetings and stakeholder discussions
  • Knowledge of aircraft noise issues and environmental regulations preferred
  • Proficiency with business intelligence tools and technical software applications
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion and community-centered engagement practices.

Job Duties

  • Assist the Manager, Community Relations in executing engagement opportunities in support of the department’s annual plan
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and exchange information with community groups, city and township governmental representatives, regulating agencies and other stakeholders to inform decision making
  • Serve as the assistant technical advisor to the MSP Noise Oversight Committee (NOC), preparing and presenting technical information at public meetings
  • Plan the strategy and format of quarterly NOC Listening Sessions and facilitate the meeting as the subject matter expert on noise issues
  • Assist in development of the MSP Annual Noise Contour Report in accordance with MAC’s legal requirements
  • Oversee and provide guidance on the administration of reliever airport advisory groups and pilot education programs
  • Exercise supervisory authority, providing day-to-day leadership and coaching for Community Relations staff
  • Conduct data analyses, develop specialized reports and analyze geospatial information related to aircraft operations and noise
  • Prepare reports, maps and visuals to communicate trends and findings of aircraft operations, noise and complaints
  • Support creative ways to engage public and community leaders to communicate MAC brand
  • Contribute to annual planning, budgeting and documentation of department expenditures
  • Implement MAC’s Performance Management System and promote inclusive, collaborative team culture
  • Coordinate with technical staff to ensure data and analyses support community understanding
  • Lead and mentor team members to effectively engage external-facing groups and the public.
