Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • Must successfully complete pre-hire, post-offer physical examination
  • Must complete district courses on progressive discipline and classified evaluation system within one year of position entry
  • Must obtain and maintain department approved food safety training within six months of hire

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • More than one year experience in a school meal program or food service management
  • Experience with large volume food preparation preferred
  • Nutrition services or other food service management training preferred
  • Ability to meet minimum national professional standards and training requirements for school nutrition professionals
  • Ability to maintain department approved food safety training
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Lead and direct kitchen team in food preparation including cooking and baking
  • Assist in preparing menu worksheets and ensuring daily accuracy
  • Maintain organization of storeroom, refrigerators, and freezers
  • Make routine decisions in absence of kitchen manager
  • Ensure compliance with Health Department standards, safety procedures, and departmental policies
  • Monitor cash collection and prepare end-of-day reports
  • Follow special dietary needs procedures and adhere to special diets
  • Assist supervisor with orders and inventory
  • Accept and check deliveries, managing vendor issues
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned
