Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- More than one year experience in school meal program or food service management
- Ability to complete national professional standards training for school nutrition professionals
- Criminal background check required for hire
- Ability to complete pre-hire, post-offer physical examination
- Must complete department approved food safety training within six months of hire
- Recommended membership in School Nutrition Association and Colorado School Food Service Association
- Recommended attendance at Colorado Department of Education summer workshop every five years
- Recommended attendance at Colorado School Nutrition Association annual conference every two years
- Must complete district courses ‘Progressive Discipline’ and ‘Classified Evaluation System’ within one year of hire
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- More than one year experience in school meal program or food service management
- Experience with large volume food preparation preferred
- Nutrition Services or food service management training preferred
- Ability to display exceptional customer service
- Knowledge of Health Department standards and safety procedures
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations applicable to school nutrition
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Lead and direct kitchen team in food preparation including cooking and baking
- Anticipate food production needs and manage batch cooking
- Replenish fruit and vegetable bar and condiment station between lunch periods
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of menu worksheets daily
- Maintain organization of storeroom, refrigerators, and freezers
- Make routine decisions in absence of kitchen manager
- Ensure compliance with Health Department standards and all safety procedures
- Monitor food temperatures according to Nutrition Services SOP
- Assure safety and sanitation of food preparation and service areas
- Monitor cash collection and prepare end-of-day reports
- Follow special dietary needs procedures
- Assist in developing and completing orders and inventory
- Accept and check deliveries including packing slips and temperatures
- Manage vendor issues when kitchen manager is unavailable
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
