Job Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous cooking experience
  • Current food safety certificate renewed every 3 years
  • Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions in English and Spanish preferred
  • Ability to work scheduled hours including holidays and weekends
  • Basic math skills
  • Adequate knife handling skills
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment properly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Previous cooking experience
  • Current food safety training certificate required and renewed every three years
  • Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in both English and Spanish preferred

  • Ability to use kitchen equipment properly

Job Duties

  • Assist head cook with planning menus
  • Assist head cook with routine inventory process
  • Light gas ovens, check for leaks, turn on extractor
  • Prepare meat and vegetables by marinating, soaking, cutting
  • Cook and prepare food batches to meet display and lunchtime service times
  • Maintain cleanliness standards including gloves and hair net use
  • Ensure safety when handling hot food and trays
  • Place and replenish food trays on display
  • Monitor floor conditions and ensure safety measures
  • Organize pantry, coolers, and freezers
  • Verify proper temperatures of display cases and refrigeration
  • Maintain sanitary work area to prevent contamination
  • Clean and store knives and kitchen utensils properly
  • Use kitchen equipment according to guidelines and report malfunctions
  • Sweep and mop floors as needed
  • Report accidents promptly
  • Participate in departmental and store meetings
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance
  • Perform other duties as needed to accomplish position objectives
