Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5-7 plus years’ experience in facility operations management
  • demonstrated knowledge of physical plant management and ice maintenance in major junior hockey or higher level facility
  • supervisory skills in work crew supervision in facility operations
  • ability to supervise others
  • strong communication skills with employees, coworkers, volunteers, management staff and guests
  • knowledge of budget preparation and control
  • basic knowledge of boilers, chillers, refrigeration and ice making
  • basic knowledge of fire alarm and fire protection systems
  • knowledge of event production and theatre technology
  • knowledge of OSHA requirements
  • working knowledge of equipment safety, facility maintenance and housekeeping
  • ability to speak, read and write in English
  • ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required

Job Duties

  • Oversees overall daily operation and maintenance of the facility and systems including workplace safety, event related equipment, ice surface, custodial services and sustainability
  • participate in the development and administration of facility operations and capital budgets including forecasting staffing, equipment, materials and supplies needs and monitoring expenditures
  • oversee advancing and communicating event information to appropriate departments and staff
  • oversee operation of event setup and teardown including basketball floor, stage risers, truss, curtains, hockey dasher boards and glass, chairs, signs, banquet functions
  • manage ice surface installation, removal, daily and game day ice maintenance and resurfacing
  • select, train, motivate and evaluate staff while providing or coordinating training and managing discipline and termination
  • ensure health and safety compliance
  • develop and update comprehensive management reports and manuals including Operations Manual, Annual Preventative Maintenance Plan and Annual Facility Report
  • improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and provide quality customer service
  • conduct organizational and operational studies and recommend program, policy and procedure modifications
  • establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, stakeholders and facility users
  • direct and monitor contractors, engineers and architects on building projects
  • maintain hazardous materials program and stay updated on federal, state and local regulations
  • perform all other duties assigned by the General Manager
