Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facility operations management
  • Strong knowledge of physical plant management and ice maintenance
  • Supervisory and crew leadership experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial oversight
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as boilers, chillers, and refrigeration
  • Familiarity with fire alarm and protection systems
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to build cooperative relationships with diverse stakeholders

Job Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5-7+ years experience in facility operations management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical plant management, ice maintenance in major-junior or higher level hockey facilities
  • Supervisory experience in work crew supervision
  • Ability to supervise others effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management, and guests
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control
  • Basic knowledge of boilers, chillers, refrigeration and ice making
  • Basic knowledge of fire alarm and fire protection systems
  • Knowledge of event production and theatre technology
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements
  • Working knowledge of equipment safety, facility maintenance and housekeeping
  • Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking
  • Ability to work well in fast-paced, team-oriented, event-driven environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Flexibility to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required

Job Duties

  • Oversees overall daily operation and maintenance of the facility and systems
  • Participate in the development and administration of the facility's operations and capital budgets
  • Oversee the advancing and communicating of event information to appropriate departments and staff
  • Supervise the operation of event set-up and tear-down including basketball floor, stage risers, truss, curtains, hockey dasher boards and glass, chairs, signs, banquet functions
  • Manage ice surface install, removal, and day-to-day and game day ice maintenance and resurfacing
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff
  • provide or coordinate staff training and implement discipline and termination procedures
  • Ensure health and safety compliance
  • Develop and update comprehensive management reports and manuals such as Operations Manual, Annual Preventative Maintenance Plan, Annual Facility Report
  • Improve operations by streamlining processes and providing quality customer service
  • Conduct organizational and operational studies and recommend modifications to programs, policies, and procedures
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders, and facility users
  • Direct and monitor the work of contractors, engineers and architects on building projects
  • Maintain hazardous materials communication program and material safety data sheets
  • Keep updated knowledge on Federal, State and Local regulations
