Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • At least 5-6 years progressive hotel experience
  • Long hours sometimes required
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to listen and clarify concerns effectively
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance and comply with scheduling

Job Qualifications

  • At least 5-6 years progressive experience in a hotel
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written with all levels of employees and guests
  • Ability to listen understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Skilled at multitasking and prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Approaches all encounters in an attentive friendly courteous and service-oriented manner
  • Attendance and participation in all required meetings and trainings
  • Ability to comply with scheduling requirements and maintain regular attendance
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance including wearing nametags
  • Understands and complies with safety and operational standards
  • Demonstrates ability in problem-solving including anticipating preventing identifying and resolving issues
  • Capacity to understand and analyze complex information and data
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information

Job Duties

  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including calling on top ten accounts meeting clients hosting luncheons and receptions and meeting with on-site contacts daily weekly and monthly
  • Tour operating departments daily making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings including weekly training presented by managers and self using steps to effective training according to Highgate Hotel standards and review of sales and operations efforts
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs timely
  • Hold monthly financial review with all department managers M.I.D.s and supervisors
  • Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate accounting procedures
  • Develop managers for advancement through competency and corporate sponsored training programs
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Maintain direct contact with and monitor management trainees
  • Adhere to all Highgate policies and train new managers to ensure compliance
  • Oversee and assist in the budget process as required
  • Ensure training in service standards is taking place in each department including compliance with Garden Standard of the Week
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment focused on guest through employee development and motivation
  • Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using A/P process
  • Ensure financial documents are received by Corporate Office monthly in compliance with accounting calendar
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Ensure employees are attentive friendly courteous and efficient in interactions
  • Forecast monthly financial position estimating revenues and expenses
  • Prepare and conduct all management interviews and follow hiring procedures
  • Interview all final candidates for vacant management positions
  • Perform Executive Committee members performance appraisals following S.O.P.s
  • Motivate coach counsel and discipline management personnel according to S.O.P.s
  • Perform other duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees according to S.O.P.s
  • Meet clients on property to assist in sales effort
  • Be in public areas during peak times greeting guests and offering assistance
  • Ensure procedures for handling hotel safe and monthly audits are followed
  • Ensure monthly credit meetings are conducted and actively engage in credit and collection policies
