Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5-6 years progressive hotel experience
- Ability to work long hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Commitment to guest service excellence
- Capability to work flexible schedules as per hotel needs
- Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards
- Adherence to company policies and procedures
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Willingness to participate in management on-duty coverage
Job Qualifications
- At least 5-6 years progressive experience in a hotel
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Effective verbal and written communication with all levels of employees and guests in a friendly courteous and service oriented manner
- Effective listening understanding and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Approach all encounters with attentiveness friendliness courtesy and service orientation
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate standards according to scheduling needs
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
- Comply with Highgate standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations
- Maximize productivity efforts identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions
- Effectively handle problems by anticipating preventing identifying and solving as necessary
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data to meet objectives
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Job Duties
- Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including calling on top ten accounts meeting clients hosting luncheons and receptions and meeting with on-site contacts daily weekly and monthly
- Tour the operating departments daily making adjustments via department heads
- Conduct weekly staff meetings including training sessions presented by managers and self according to Highgate standards and review previous and future sales and operations
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs timely
- Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers M.I.D.s and supervisors
- Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate checkbook accounting procedures
- Develop managers for future advancement through competency and corporate training programs
- Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
- Maintain direct contact with and monitor development of management trainees
- Adhere to all Highgate policies and procedures and train new managers for compliance
- Oversee and assist in budget process as required
- Ensure training in service standards per Highgate guidelines including compliance to Garden Standard of the Week
- Create a positive team-oriented environment focusing on guest service through employee development and motivation
- Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
- Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using A/P process
- Ensure financial documents reach Corporate Office monthly complying with accounting calendar
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections and preventive maintenance with department managers
- Ensure employees are attentive friendly courteous and efficient in interactions with guests and coworkers
- Forecast monthly financial position by estimating revenues and expenses and perform accurate reforecast
- Conduct management interviews and hiring per Highgate S.O.P.s
- Interview final candidates for vacant management positions prior to offers
- Perform performance appraisals of executive committee and ensure compliance in staff appraisals
- Motivate counsel and discipline management per Highgate S.O.P.s
- Perform other duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
- Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees per Highgate S.O.P.s
- Meet clients on property to assist sales effort
- Be present in public areas during peak times greeting guests and offering assistance
- Ensure procedures for handling hotel safe and security and monthly audits are followed
- Conduct monthly credit meetings and take active role in credit and collection policies
