Job Requirements
- Experience of 5-6 years in hotel management
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to work long hours as required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be attentive friendly courteous and service oriented
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
- Must comply with all company standards and policies
- Must maintain a professional appearance
- Ability to participate in M.O.D. coverage
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Must be capable of problem identification and resolution
- Physical ability to perform light work including occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds
- Must be willing to perform additional duties as requested
Job Qualifications
- At least 5-6 years progressive experience in a hotel
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Effective communication both verbal and written with all levels of employees and guests
- Effective listening understanding and clarifying concerns
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- Approach interactions with guests and employees in a friendly courteous and service-oriented manner
- Attend all hotel required meetings and training
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
- Ability to maximize productivity and identify problem areas
- Effective problem handling including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Job Duties
- Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including calling on top ten accounts meeting clients hosting luncheons and receptions and meeting with on-site contacts daily weekly and monthly
- Tour the operating departments daily making adjustments as needed via department heads
- Conduct weekly staff meetings including weekly training sessions and review of previous and future sales and operations efforts
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
- Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers M.I.D.s and available supervisors
- Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate Hotel standard checkbook accounting procedures
- Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored training programs
- Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
- Maintain direct contact with and monitor the development of management trainees
- Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and procedures and train new managers to ensure compliance
- Oversee and assist in the Highgate Hotel budget process as required
- Ensure training in service standards is taking place in each department using steps to effective training including compliance with Garden Standard of the Week training
- Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment focusing on guest through employee development and motivation
- Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
- Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using A/P process
- Ensure all appropriate financial documents are received by Corporate Office monthly in compliance with accounting calendar
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs
- Ensure employees are attentive friendly courteous and efficient in interactions with guests managers and employees
- Forecast monthly hotel financial position by estimating revenues and expenses and generate accurate reforecast
- Prepare and conduct management interviews following Highgate Hotel S.O.P.s
- Interview all prospective final candidates for vacant management positions prior to offers
- Perform Executive Committee members performance appraisals according to S.O.P.s
- Motivate coach counsel and discipline management personnel following S.O.P.s
- Perform duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
- Ensure all employees receive fair and equitable treatment according to S.O.P.s
- Meet clients on property to assist in sales effort
- Be in public areas during peak times greeting guests and offering assistance
- Ensure procedures for handling hotel safe including security and audits are followed
- Conduct monthly credit meetings and actively participate in hotel credit and collection policies
