Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 5-6 years progressive hotel experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

Job Qualifications

  • Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
  • Participate in Manager on Duty coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance as per Highgate Hotel Standards
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards for safe and efficient operations
  • Ability to identify problem areas and implement solutions
  • Effective problem handling including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently

Job Duties

  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including calling on top ten accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions, and meeting with on-site contacts daily, weekly and monthly
  • Tour operating departments daily making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings including training sessions and sales/operations review
  • Meet financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with all department managers and available supervisors
  • Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity and accounting procedures
  • Develop managers through competency and corporate sponsored training programs
  • Participate in Manager on Duty coverage as scheduled
  • Monitor development of management trainees
  • Adhere to all Highgate hotel policies and train new managers for compliance
  • Assist in Highgate hotel budget process
  • Ensure service standards training using Highgate's effective training steps including Garden Standard of the Week
  • Create a positive team-oriented environment focusing on guest through employee development and motivation
  • Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • Ensure complete daily processing of invoices using Accounts Payable process
  • Provide financial information monthly to Corporate Office complying with accounting calendar
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance through inspections and preventive maintenance with department managers
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous and efficient in interactions
  • Forecast monthly hotel financial position estimating revenues and expenses
  • Conduct management interviews and enforce hiring procedures per Highgate SOPs
  • Interview final candidates prior to any offer
  • Perform Executive Committee members performance appraisals and ensure compliance
  • Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline management personnel according to SOPs
  • Perform other duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment for all employees
  • Meet and assist clients on property
  • Be present in public areas during peak times greeting guests
  • Ensure procedures for handling hotel safe and monthly audits are followed
  • Conduct monthly credit meetings and participate actively in credit and collection policies
