Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Minimum three years experience as General Manager, Operations Manager or Director of Sales in extended stay hotels
  • Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to speak other languages is a plus
  • Strong mathematical and budgeting skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • Ability to travel with some overnight stays
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Physical ability to frequently stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move around the facility
  • Ability to safely carry, lift or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Exposure to commercial cleaning chemicals
  • Problem solving and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Three years as a General Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Director of Sales in extended stay hotels preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Other languages beneficial
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • Ability to travel including some overnight travel
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move frequently
  • Ability to carry, lift or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to handle objects and equipment frequently
  • Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients
  • Manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates of the hotel
  • Create processes and procedures to ensure the hotel is properly supplied with all guest amenities, food and beverage outlets meet guest expectations, and the hotel is maintained and clean
  • Manage direct sales activities in partnership with Regional Sales Director and Global Sales Office
  • Supervise Director of Sales and execute hotel’s sales and marketing plan
  • Manage seasonal demand strategy with Regional Revenue Manager for pricing and occupancy
  • Regularly sell hotel rooms through direct client contact
  • Establish and implement service recovery guidelines to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Manage brand positioning with marketing programs, guest recognition program, and logo standards
  • Oversee front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage operations through Operations Manager
  • Supervise maintenance of physical plant through Maintenance Manager
  • Attend evening social and breakfast events for management representation and sales prospecting
  • Lead development, implementation, and monitoring of capital and operational budgets
  • Work with Finance on variance analysis and communicate financial status to ownership
  • Ensure proper financial processes in partnership with General Ledger Accountant
  • Manage physical facility condition and budget with Engineering and Facilities Operations Manager
  • Oversee human resources programs including recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding with HR representatives
  • Ensure IT hardware and software maintenance and proper use with IT representatives
  • Manage hotel purchasing and procurement processes effectively
  • Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures within departments
  • Act as manager on duty as required
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services
  • Perform other duties as assigned
