Job Requirements

  • At least 5-6 years progressive experience in a hotel
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability to work long hours when required
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication with employees and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand and clarify concerns
  • Multitask and prioritize duties to meet deadlines
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance as scheduled
  • Comply with grooming standards and wear nametags
  • Adhere to hotel standards and regulations for safe operations
  • Ability to identify and address problems proactively
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Capable of light physical work lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least 5-6 years progressive experience in a hotel
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Effective listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Familiarity with hotel operations and financial forecasting
  • Experience in managing and developing teams
  • Compliance with hotel policies and procedures
  • Competency in conducting staff training and performance evaluations
  • Ability to foster a positive team environment
  • Proficiency in handling financial documents and budgets.

Job Duties

  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top ten accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions, and meeting with on-site contacts daily
  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions according to Highgate Hotel standards
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers, M.I.D.'s and available supervisors
  • Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and standard accounting procedures
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored training programs
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Maintain direct contact with and monitor the development of management trainees
  • Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and procedures and train new managers to ensure compliance
  • Oversee and assist in the Highgate Hotel budget process as required
  • Ensure training in service standards is taking place in each department including compliance with Garden Standard of the Week training
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment focused on guests through employee development and motivation
  • Inspect rooms regularly with housekeeping and property engineering managers
  • Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using the A/P process
  • Ensure all appropriate financial documents are submitted monthly in compliance with the accounting calendar
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in guest interactions
  • Forecast monthly the hotel’s financial position by estimating revenues and expenses
  • Prepare and conduct management interviews and follow hiring procedures as per S.O.P.'s
  • Interview all prospective final candidates for vacant management positions
  • Perform performance appraisals and ensure compliance with administration standards
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management personnel according to S.O.P.'s
  • Perform duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees
  • Meet clients on the property to assist in sales effort
  • Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests
  • Ensure security and monthly safe audits are conducted
  • Ensure monthly credit meetings are held and participate actively in credit and collection policies.
