Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 5-6 years progressive hotel experience
  • Ability to work long hours sometimes required

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to identify problems and assist with solutions
  • Proficient in handling problems including anticipating and resolving issues
  • Capacity to evaluate complex information and data to meet objectives

  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently
  • Perform other duties as requested by management

Job Duties

  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top ten accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions, and meeting with on-site contacts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Tour operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions presented by managers and self per Highgate Hotel standards, review previous and future sales and operations efforts
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs timely
  • Hold monthly financial review with all department managers, M.I.D.'s and supervisors
  • Ensure all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate checkbook accounting procedures
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency and corporate sponsored training
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage
  • Maintain direct contact with and monitor management trainees
  • Adhere to all Highgate policies and procedures, train new managers accordingly
  • Oversee and assist in the budget process as required
  • Ensure training in service standards use steps to effective training per Highgate standards, including compliance with Garden Standard of the Week
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment focusing on guest through employee development and motivation
  • Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using A/P process
  • Ensure all financial documents timely submitted monthly to Corporate Office
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections and preventive maintenance with department managers
  • Ensure attentive, friendly, courteous and efficient employee interactions with guests, managers and employees
  • Forecast monthly hotel financial position by estimating revenues and expenses, analyze data for accurate reforecast
  • Prepare and conduct management interviews, follow hiring procedures per Highgate S.O.P.
  • Interview all prospective final candidates for management positions before offers
  • Perform Executive Committee members' performance appraisals per Highgate S.O.P.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline management personnel as per Highgate S.O.P.
  • Perform duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees per Highgate S.O.P.
  • Meet clients on property to assist sales efforts
  • Be present in public areas during peak times greeting guests and offering assistance
  • Ensure hotel safe handling procedures with security and audit compliance
  • Conduct monthly credit meetings and participate in credit and collection policies
