Job Requirements

  • must be able to work long hours sometimes
  • two overnight shifts with this position
  • light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently
  • must maintain regular attendance
  • maintain nametags as part of appearance standards
  • maintain effective communication with all levels of employees and guests
  • must be proactive and guest centric
  • must be able to supervise shifts when needed
  • must attend all mandatory meetings and training classes
  • comply with safety and operational regulations
  • ability to identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions
  • able to manage and understand financial data and daily receipts
  • must effectively resolve guest complaints
  • must be able to multitask and handle complex information

Job Qualifications

  • a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience required
  • supervisory experience required
  • labor experience and OPERA experience preferred
  • proficient in windows, company approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • ability to stand during entire shift
  • maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • effective listening and understanding of concerns raised by employees and guests
  • ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • approach all encounters in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
  • attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • comply with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations
  • effective in handling problems and implementing solutions
  • ability to understand and evaluate complex information from various sources

Job Duties

  • works closely with sales and reservations to fulfill all special requests for groups and VIPs
  • assist daily in the guest reception
  • responds daily to social media feedback and follows up with guests and internally
  • communicates effectively and genuinely with guests, team members, and other departments
  • assists and often leads guest service training initiatives within the front office department
  • maintains a friendly and caring demeanor at all times in a fast paced environment
  • provides all front desk assistant job duties such as registering guests, upselling room rates, preparing for group check-ins and check-outs, and VIP arrivals
