Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years general food preparation or cooking experience preferably in cafeteria or restaurant setting
  • ServSafe Certification
  • CPR/AED certified

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking practices, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability to work flexibly and communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Assumes full responsibility of food preparation, kitchen and dining room clean-up, and meal coordination in the absence of the Food Service Manager
  • Assists Food Service Manager with planning weekly menu and grocery shopping
  • Prepares food including entrées, side dishes, desserts, and beverages for meal programs and special events
  • Evaluates food quality, quantity, appearance, temperature, and taste to ensure freshness and safety compliance
  • Prepares and maintains items for coffee station, congregate and grab-and-go meal services, and Senior Center activities
  • Transports food to and from storage and serving areas, plates food
  • Conducts daily cleanup of food preparation areas and maintains sanitation standards
  • Maintains kitchen and dining stocks and supplies, assists with delivery and storage
  • Ensures cleanliness of dining room area and coordinates with custodial staff
  • Assists with general Senior Center program operations and special events
  • Performs related duties as assigned
