Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • two years housekeeping experience in a commercial environment in a supervisory capacity
  • two years line level experience in all aspects of the housekeeping department
  • physical ability to perform duties including frequent sitting, some walking and standing
  • ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs frequently
  • good vision and hearing
  • ability to read and understand instructions and safety rules
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to assign duties, maintain harmonious relations, and promote efficiency
  • willingness to work in normal office conditions and close proximity to others

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • two years of housekeeping experience in a commercial environment in a supervisory capacity
  • two years of line level experience in all aspects of the housekeeping department
  • hotel or resort housekeeping management experience preferred
  • knowledge of housekeeping procedures and standards
  • strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • effective communication and interpersonal abilities
  • ability to train and develop staff
  • proficiency in maintaining inventory and managing supplies

Job Duties

  • obtain lists of vacant rooms to be cleaned and prospective checkouts or discharges to prepare work assignments
  • advise management and front desk personnel of rooms ready for occupancy
  • assign duties to cleaning staff and inspect work for cleanliness standards
  • inventory and issue cleaning supplies and linen stock
  • investigate housekeeping service and equipment concerns and take corrective actions
  • examine rooms and public areas to identify repair needs and recommend replacements
  • ensure guest room security and proper key control procedures
  • recruit, hire, and recommend personnel actions like promotions and dismissals
  • conduct orientation and training for new and existing employees on policies and equipment use
  • attend training seminars to improve housekeeping and supervisory skills
  • record work assignments, personnel actions, time cards and prepare reports on occupancy and departmental expenses
  • participate in staff meetings to discuss policies, complaints and recommend service improvements
  • assist in controlling housekeeping department expenses
  • perform other duties as assigned
