Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management or associated field
  • Five to seven years' management experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive information
  • Ability to make independent judgments in emergency situations
  • Certification in CPR/AED and first aid
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license in good standing

  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise recreation programs, weekend programs, special events, and program staff
  • Select, train and direct full-time and part-time staff for recreation programs
  • Manage payroll for event officials
  • Schedule all athletic facilities for recreation programs and rentals
  • Requisition supplies, expenses, and equipment for recreation programs
  • Prepare promotional materials and assist with distribution to schools and social media
  • Organize coaching and other clinics
  • Secure facilities for new or existing programs
  • Provide information to the public regarding departmental programs and services
  • Assist with park maintenance as needed
  • Perform updates to web sites for programs
  • Assist with development and fulfillment of capital improvements and operating budgets
  • Monitor expenditures
  • Assist with development of master plans and long-range planning for parks and facilities
