Job Requirements
- Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) and/or Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred
- valid Colorado Driver License or ability to obtain and maintain an acceptable driving record
- thorough knowledge of public recreation administration philosophies and practices
- strong leadership and supervisory skills
- ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- ability to work independently and in a team environment
- excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Public or Business Administration, or related field
- five years of increasingly responsible management and administrative experience in public program administration
- three years of supervisory experience
- experience with community associations or partner agencies preferred
- management experience in a Recreation Department with similar facilities and programs is highly desirable
- any combination of experience, training, and education demonstrating required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Job Duties
- Establishes and communicates direction and objectives of assigned areas, ensuring alignment with departmental goals
- assists the Director in carrying out the Department's vision, mission, and goals
- supervises, mentors, and leads managerial and technical personnel
- plans and leads daily operations and staff with a focus on customer service and effective programs
- performs long-range planning for divisions and participates in departmental long-range planning
- coordinates Department services with other District areas and community partners
- prepares bid and contract documents and oversees contracts
- develops and oversees business plans
- coordinates marketing strategies with the Communications Department
- develops and implements division policies and customer service standards
- maintains accurate records of departmental activities and property
- participates in community planning and meets with interested individuals and groups to resolve issues
- responds to inquiries and issues professionally
- attends and participates in meetings and trainings
- conducts facility inspections for maintenance and safety compliance
- initiates and manages broad scope special projects including capital improvements
- manages assigned budget, prepares financial reports, and handles procurement processes
