Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in human resources management
  • At least 3 years experience dealing with union grievances successfully in a New York City setting
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations particularly related to labor relations and collective bargaining agreements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in human resources management with at least 3 years handling union grievances in New York City
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws related to labor relations and collective bargaining
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability in problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion

Job Duties

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day HR operations including labor relations, recruitment, performance management, and employee relations
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as company standards
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related matters including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances
  • Participate actively in labor union negotiations and collaborate with union representatives to address grievances and disputes
  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints or misconduct, maintaining confidentiality and fairness
  • Provide guidance to department managers on labor relations matters including interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and union issues
  • Collaborate with the Director of People Operations and senior management to develop and execute strategic initiatives supporting employee engagement, retention, and development
