Job Requirements

  • At least three years of demonstrated experience supervising and developing staff including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and fostering a collaborative team culture
  • At least three years of professional experience leading administrative, operational, financial, transportation, or customer-focused programs of comparable scope and complexity
  • At least three years experience managing parking enforcement operations, parking garage operations and parking garage cleaning and maintenance programs or a position comparable in scope and complexity
  • Valid driver’s license meeting UW Risk Management standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, public administration or related field
  • At least three years of demonstrated experience supervising and developing staff including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and fostering team culture
  • At least three years of professional experience leading administrative, operational, financial, transportation, or customer-focused programs of comparable scope and complexity
  • At least three years experience managing parking enforcement operations, parking garage operations, cleaning and maintenance programs or a comparable role
  • Driver’s license valid and meets UW Risk Management standards
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and balancing competing priorities
  • Project management experience
  • Parking, Transportation & Mobility Professionals (PTMP) or other professional accreditation preferred
  • Experience managing parking/transportation programs in higher education or medical campus environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Managing the operational aspects of the department's EV charging program and supporting various strategic initiatives
  • Maintaining 24/7 coverage of the dispatch office to provide timely assistance to both customers and staff
  • Ensuring consistent staffing and service at hospital garage cashier booths
  • Serving as a primary liaison with key campus and community partners including UW Police Department, City of Madison Parking, and UW Health
  • Overseeing recruitment, performance management, and training for assigned units
  • Leading efforts to streamline workflows and reduce staffing gaps to maintain consistent service levels
  • Directly supervising two managers and providing support to frontline and supervisory staff across all shifts including days, nights, and weekends
  • Exercising supervisory authority including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent employees
  • Leading the coordination and integration of various parking operations into overall campus plans and directions, ensuring consistency with applicable statutes, Board of Regent's directions, and university strategies
  • Leading the implementation and execution of strategic initiatives and overseeing operational management of designated departmental contracts and service agreements
  • Recommending parking initiatives and/or policy and procedural changes to better meet campus needs
  • Establishing effective and timely communications with other departments and student groups
  • Managing the budget of various units to ensure long-term solvency and fiscal commitments
  • Developing and communicating a strategic vision and policy direction consistent with overall campus direction
  • Communicating policy and procedural changes to faculty, staff, student groups, customers, and stakeholders
