Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- in lieu of bachelor’s degree, seven years of relevant experience considered
- 3-5 years of relevant technical experience
- minimum two years supervisory experience
- applicable technical/safety certifications/licenses as required
- valid driver’s license (CDL may be required)
- strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- computer literacy
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of relevant technical experience including at least two years supervisory experience
- appropriate technical/safety certifications/qualifications/licenses as required by SEPTA, state and federal regulations
- knowledge of blueprint reading and surveying as applicable
- valid driver’s license
- strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- computer literacy
- preferred PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- regional rail experience preferred
Job Duties
- Supervise and manage maintenance workforce
- schedule employees' work hours to maximize productivity
- maintain and improve physical building and related equipment
- develop, recommend, maintain and measure quality of maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures
- control labor and material expenditures to comply with budgetary limitations
- develop and provide training programs for employees
- communicate with union personnel, peers and higher level supervision for effective cooperation and problem resolution
- diagnose problems and perform repairs
- specify and order required materials and tools
- review applied disciplinary actions and participate in grievance procedures as required
- implement and administer procedures to correct employee attendance, lateness, overtime and injuries while maintaining accurate records
- provide daily, weekly or monthly reports to Director of Maintenance
- interview and select applicants to fill positions
- comply with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures
- schedule and supervise the inspection and testing of signal equipment to comply with FRA and other applicable regulations
- manage the maintenance, repair and construction of communications and signals infrastructure including wire and cable plant, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic devices, microprocessor-controlled electronics and software
- manage the maintenance and repair of radios and radio communications equipment and infrastructure
