Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hotel accounting or a related finance role
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in hotel financial software systems
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and generate reports
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years of experience in hotel accounting or a related field
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and hotel accounting principles
  • Proficiency in financial software such as Opera, Micros, Marriott, Hilton
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • CPA certification or CMA certification preferred
  • Experience with hotel management systems (PMS) preferred
  • Knowledge of revenue management and yield management principles preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and ownership
  • Assist in developing annual budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast and take corrective action as needed
  • Analyze variances and provide explanations for significant deviations
  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely posting of journal entries
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • Coordinate with the property accounting team to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions
  • Assist in preparing and filing various tax returns including sales tax, payroll tax, and property tax
  • Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals
  • Recruit, hire, and train new team members
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to staff
  • Evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement cost-saving measures
