Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, restaurant management, dietetics, nutrition, or related field
- Four years of increasingly responsible experience in food service program management
- Valid California driver's license and availability of a private vehicle
- Valid State-approved Food Safety Manager Certification

- Four years of increasingly responsible experience in food service program management
- Knowledge of planning, organization, and direction of a large-scale school food service operation
- Knowledge of food production including preparation, service, and storage
- Knowledge of menu planning to meet the nutritional requirements of school-age children
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety practices related to cooking and serving food
- Knowledge of budget preparation and control
- Knowledge of principles and practices of administration, supervision, and training
- Knowledge of oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of kitchen planning and large food service equipment
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Job Duties
- Assist in the planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing activities of the Food and Nutrition Department
- Develop and recommend changes to Food and Nutrition Department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations
- Ensure that the Food and Nutrition program, services, equipment, facilities, sanitation, storage, transport and delivery of food products conform to applicable regulations and District policies
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff
- interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignments, and other personnel matters
- Visit sites to observe and evaluate Food and Nutrition personnel and procedures
- develop and recommend improved methods of food preparation and service
- maintain direct contact with site supervisors regarding compliance and control matters
- Participate in the formulation and development of policies, procedures, and programs designed to develop assigned programs and services
- recommend and establish operating procedures for Food and Nutrition activities and operations
- Provide technical expertise, information, and assistance to the Food and Nutrition Director regarding assigned functions
- advise the Director of unusual trends or problems and recommend appropriate corrective action
