Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • basic mathematical skills
  • ability to understand complex instructions
  • stable work and educational history
  • basic English reading and writing ability
  • prior bakery/deli experience preferred
  • must be 18 years or older to operate certain equipment
  • prior supervisory experience preferred

  • basic mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • ability to understand and communicate complex verbal and written instructions
  • stable work and educational history
  • basic reading and writing proficiency in English
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior bakery/deli department experience preferred
  • prior experience operating bakery and deli equipment preferred
  • prior supervisory experience preferred

Job Duties

  • create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions
  • assist with hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, and evaluation of bakery/deli staff
  • orient and train new bakery/deli employees
  • help develop weekly labor schedules
  • record customers' bakery/deli orders accurately
  • assist in merchandising displays and ad promotions
  • order bakery/deli products and supplies
  • process customer purchases with electronic cash register and scanner
  • maintain perishable department communication board and follow sampling program
  • supervise and perform baking of bread, cakes, pastries, and other products
  • organize cooler/freezer and verify deliveries
  • transport and stock merchandise accurately
  • operate safety equipment including baler, case cutter, pallet jack, slicer, fryer, ovens, and other department equipment
  • communicate with deli manager regarding operations and improvements
  • check case and cooler temperatures multiple times daily
  • prepare, display, and package all bakery/deli products
  • perform miscellaneous tasks as needed including substitute duties for absent workers
