Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older (21 or older for Beverage Server, Barback, Bartender positions)
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Ability to lift and carry up to 300 lbs continuously
- Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking extended distances
- Must be able to complete state or company-required classes or certifications
- Ability to work in hot to cold temperature environments
- Must demonstrate professionalism and positive attitude
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain cleanliness and safety standards
Job Qualifications
- Minimum six months experience in food preparation and food knowledge
- Excellent guest service skills
- Knowledge of food storage, knife handling and sharpening, weights and measures, stocks, soups and sauces, plate presentations
- Understanding of health department regulations, sanitation, and safety standards
- Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with guests and co-workers
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels
- Ability to perform all cooking duties efficiently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
- Completion of any required classes or certifications mandated by the state of Colorado or Ameristar Casino
Job Duties
- Conduct oneself in a manner that reflects a positive professional image
- Read and apply recipes and measurements accurately
- Communicate effectively with team members in basic English
- Perform duties within varying temperature ranges
- Operate kitchen equipment including slicer, steamer, deep fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, kettle, and flattop
- Lift and handle goods weighing up to 300 lbs on a continuous schedule
- Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Cook, prepare, dish-up, and assemble food items
- Adhere to food cost control and quality procedures
- Restock workstation supplies
- Ensure proper set-up and cleanliness of workstations
- Follow safety procedures and sanitation guidelines
- Prepare food items according to standard recipes to ensure consistency
- Perform specialized preparation tasks such as making salads, soup bases, handling seafood, and preparing stocks and sauces
- Maintain knowledge of one station and familiarity with two others
