Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalency
- Pass a thorough background investigation
- No felony convictions
- Be of good moral character
- Willingness to work overtime, standby, callback, shift, weekend, and holiday assignments
- Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work under fluctuating temperature conditions
- Ability to maintain composure in a secure environment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening if applicable
Job Qualifications

- Basic math skills sufficient to maintain inventory and calculate food amounts
- Ability to read English for therapeutic diets, production work sheets and recipes
- Ability to work under fluctuating temperature conditions
- Ability to lift, carry or push up to 50 pounds
- Maintain a professional attitude when working with inmates and staff
- Ability to learn large scale food preparation and special diets
- Ability to utilize kitchen equipment efficiently
- Experience with cleaning supplies
- Ability to prepare and serve large quantities of food attractively
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, stand, reach overhead, push, pull, squat, twist, and turn
- Ability to learn to use a pallet jack
- Ability to measure and record food amounts accurately
- Pass a thorough background investigation

Job Duties
- Clean and prepare vegetables and fruits
- Operate kitchen equipment including microwave, coffee machines, blender, mixers, and meat slicer
- Prepare sandwiches, coffee, custards, and gelatins
- Serve food in a cafeteria setting
- Prepare meals in accordance with the therapeutic diet manual
- Perform a variety of cleaning and custodial work such as washing dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils
- loads, unloads, operates and cleans dishwasher, mop floors, cleans and sanitizes all kitchen surfaces and refrigerator walls and floors, and disposes of garbage in compactor or dumpsters
- Store, rotate, and distribute food and supplies
- Prepare and serve between meal nourishment
- Transport food to appropriate destinations, which may require loading and unloading
