Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or cooking preferred
- Ability to operate small and large kitchen equipment
- Ability to lift frequently and stand for extended periods
- Ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with others
- Availability to work school hours from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on school days
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of food service procedures, practices, and equipment
- Knowledge of federal and state health and nutrition requirements
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation
- Knowledge of food service regulations and standards
- Knowledge of standard cooking skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and labels
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Job Duties
- Prepare nutritious food following health regulations and supervisor's direction
- Ensure that food remains at proper temperature
- Plan menus, order food and supplies
- Instruct and train staff as directed
- Follow safety and sanitation standards
- Serve food in a timely manner according to portion control requirements
- Maintain accurate and timely records and manage inventory
