Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to perform various tasks necessary to prepare, serve, and clean up after meals
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment including grinder, mixer, oven, range, dishwasher, steam kettle, slicer
  • Ability to work under supervision and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to follow school policies and demonstrate ethical conduct

Job Duties

  • Assists in preparation and serving food in a quick and pleasant manner
  • Produces quality food products and follows standardized recipes closely
  • Operates a variety of equipment, including grinder, mixer, oven, range, dishwasher, steam kettle, slicer
  • When tasks are completed checks with manager and others for instruction to help others
  • Assist in general daily clean up of the kitchen and service areas
  • Assists in major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals
  • Attends relevant training classes and workshops to maintain food service knowledge
  • Assists with the proper storage and disposal of unused foods
  • Deals with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive encouraging manner
  • Knows and follows school policy and chain of command
  • Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment
  • Performs such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor(s)
