Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently
  • ability to produce or obtain ServSafe Certification within six months of hire
  • two years of kitchen experience
  • one year of leadership experience in kitchen settings
  • willingness to work varied days and hours typically between 12 pm and 8 pm
  • must work 100% onsite at Memorial Union Kitchens

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • two years of kitchen experience
  • one year of leadership experience overseeing kitchen staff and production
  • ability to obtain ServSafe Certification within six months of hire
  • preferred experience with large batch kitchen production

Job Duties

  • Order food and supplies as needed or directed following Wisconsin Union procedures
  • assign and coordinate daily activities of food service staff
  • assist in conducting weekly inventory
  • adhere to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • lead and provide exceptional customer service, respond to inquiries about food preparation and catering
  • develop and schedule logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • review orders and resolve last-minute issues with production and deliveries
  • clean, inspect, and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
  • perform routine and non-routine food preparation including cook to order and specialty foods
  • oversee kitchen production including dish room
