Job Requirements

  • Must be able to understand, read, write and speak English
  • adherence to all health and safety standards in the kitchen
  • ability to safely and effectively use kitchen equipment and utensils
  • maintain a neat and professional appearance
  • apply commonsense in carrying out instructions
  • comply with standardized procedures
  • availability to work flexible days and shifts including holidays
  • ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • physical ability to stand on hard surfaces for long periods, use hands and arms repetitively, handle food products and kitchen tools, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • capable of lifting items over 25 pounds
  • sensory abilities including close and distance vision, hearing, color vision, smell, and taste

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two or more years of experience in a similar role
  • excellent customer service skills
  • food Handler's Certificate within 30 days of hire
  • ServSafe certification within 30 days if not already certified
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • strong leadership and team motivation abilities

Job Duties

  • Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of the head chef
  • oversee the preparation and presentation of food items to ensure adherence to standards
  • organize and maintain kitchen stock and ingredients
  • ensure proper food rotation and quality assurance through first in, first out system
  • keep cooking stations stocked during peak hours
  • hire and train new kitchen employees
  • manage food and product ordering while minimizing waste
  • supervise overall food preparation and presentation
  • collaborate with head chef on kitchen organization, staff ability, and training
  • verify that food storage units meet all health and safety standards
