Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen experience
  • Minimum 1 year of leadership experience overseeing kitchen staff and kitchen production
  • ServSafe certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work varied day shifts typically between 12 pm and 8 pm
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of kitchen experience
  • At least 1 year of experience as a leader overseeing kitchen staff and kitchen production
  • Experience in large batch kitchen production preferred
  • ServSafe certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months

Job Duties

  • Plan, lead, and coordinate daily food production activities in collaboration with the Assistant Manager to maximize efficiency and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality product
  • Support and assist in the implementation of best practices for kitchen organization, safety, efficiency, and established operating procedures
  • Lead and guide the work of full-time cooks and student workers in both the kitchen and dish room
  • Support catering and retail/restaurant teams
  • Order food and supplies as needed or directed following Wisconsin Union procedures
  • Assist in doing weekly inventory
  • Adhere to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Provide exceptional customer service and information regarding food preparation and catering
  • Develop and schedule logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • Review orders and resolve last-minute issues with production and deliveries
  • Clean, inspect, and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Perform routine and non-routine food preparation, including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Oversee production including dish room operations
