Job Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent
- 3-5 years related experience
- Prior hospitality experience specifically in catering, conference services or banquets
- Ability to handle time-sensitive tasks effectively
- Valid Food Handler's certificate if applicable
- Valid Alcohol Service Permit if applicable
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with POS and timekeeping systems
- Capability for cash handling and arithmetic
- Flexibility to work varied schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of planning and coordinating diverse events
- Understanding of fire safety regulations
- Professional demeanor with clients and staff
- Ability to manage vendors and event personnel
- Proficient English language skills
- Competent in event advance planning
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience in hospitality with specific experience in catering sales, conference services or banquets
- Knowledge of revenue management, training and motivation of peers
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
- Valid Food Handler's certificate if required
- Valid Alcohol Service Permit if required
- Familiarity with inventory cost control and menu planning
- Basic computer proficiency including email, Excel, Word, Outlook
- Experience with Point of Sale and timekeeping systems
- Cash handling abilities and basic math skills
- Ability to work variable schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays and irregular hours
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of principles used in planning, coordinating and servicing weddings, social and corporate events
- Knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations and venue capacity loads
- Ability to work effectively with coworkers, clients and event planners professionally
- Ability to direct vendors and setup personnel during events
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Advance planning skills including staffing, rental needs, timelines and post event reports
Job Duties
- Assist Banquet Manager in management of all banquet operations including banquet planning, ordering supplies, reviewing set-up, food and beverage preparation, service, staff scheduling, employee check-in, equipment inspection, POS monitoring and troubleshooting, guest complaint resolution, training, food production, clean-up and reporting
- Assist in conducting regular physical inventories of food and beverage supplies, assessing projected needs, updating pricing and entering month-end inventory
- Hire all banquet staff with Banquet Manager approval
- Assist in recruitment, training, development, mentoring and supervision of hourly employees and document performance and attendance issues
- Direct daily activities of part-time Banquet Captains and server staff
- Ensure staff are briefed on event requirements and assigned to specific areas prior to events
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness throughout all food and beverage areas and enforce venue policies related to guest satisfaction, quality standards, uniform policy, cash handling and operating procedures
- Assist in management of catered events from set-up to tear down including communication with hourly staff, culinary staff and guests
- Attend all applicable building and departmental meetings
- Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws, sanitation, food-related ordinances and alcohol regulations
- Maintain banquet storage areas ensuring cleanliness and organization
- Perform all other duties as required
