Job Qualifications
- Four-year degree in hospitality from an accredited college or university preferred
- two plus years supervisory or management experience in a hotel operations department
- ServSafe certified
- ability to lead and supervise banquet associates effectively
- proficiency with Amway Hotel Collection Catering and convention systems
- familiarity with hotel and convention center layouts and services
Job Duties
- Lead and supervise the banquet staff, including training new and ongoing staff
- focus on team recognition and employee engagement
- inventory management for the banquet department
- participate in an aggressive hospitality program greeting all guests with warmth and enthusiasm
- assist in organizing and executing offsite events and preparing bar inventory and end-of-night paperwork
- follow all hotel policies and procedures including uniform standards and compliance
- practice safety standards and report unsafe conditions
- provide fast and courteous service while maintaining a well-organized work area
- conduct oneself professionally to ensure guest satisfaction
- follow established guidelines, procedures, and policies
- excellent at cash handling
- oversee and monitor daily banquet operations and maintain organization of banquet areas and service equipment
- maintain energy conservation, loss prevention, and recycling programs
- ensure ongoing staff training to maintain service and profit standards
- directly supervise banquet servers, bartenders, and supervisors, ensuring grooming standards and appearance
- check BEO and function sheets against actual setup and menus and follow up on details to ensure successful events
- maintain up-to-date details on banquet functions and communicate changes to staff
- maintain high levels of sanitation and cleanliness in service areas
- maintain professional rapport with Catering and Sales Managers, Executive Chef, F&B staff
- be visible in public spaces during events to ensure guest needs are met
- discuss customer expectations and how best to meet them with staff
- communicate with clients and catering manager on event setup
