Job Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • 2+ years retail scratch baking experience preferred
  • Food handlers permit required
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance repeatedly
  • Occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, or crawling
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the store
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds including floor to shoulder and overhead lifting
  • Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in retail, guest service, or food service preferred
  • Previous leadership experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Helps with the production, development, preparation, and maintenance of bakery items according to recipes and consistent quality standards
  • Oversees daily bakery operations including production schedules and workflow
  • Assists with maintaining inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed to prevent shortages
  • Ensures shelves and cases are filled, fresh, rotated, faced, and cleaned
  • Assists with the training and supervision of bakery staff, fostering a positive team environment
  • Educates customers about Lee's Marketplace bakery products and services
  • Maintains training and certification by attending in-person and digital training sessions
  • Processes and completes orders through digital and in-person order processing
  • Monitors sales and profitability, implementing strategies to increase revenue
  • Assists in managing budgets and controlling costs including labor and ingredient expenses
  • Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Provides knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries
  • Promotes high morale within department and store through open communication
  • Provides excellent guest service by accurately taking orders and finalizing purchases
  • Displays excellent problem-solving skills exemplifying the 'Lee's Way'
  • Assists customers with Lee's Marketplace website use
  • Stocks shelves and maintains displays according to store standards
  • Ensures product freshness by monitoring quality, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates
  • Unloads deliveries and organizes stock rooms
  • Stores perishable items at correct temperatures
  • Maintains accurate inventory of baking supplies using FIFO system
  • Ensures recipes are followed accurately
  • Packages baked goods appropriately according to food safety regulations
  • Labels items with pricing, ingredients, allergen information, and expiration dates
  • Oversees display of baked goods ensuring neat arrangement and rotation
  • Minimizes product waste by tracking production against sales
  • Properly disposes of or recycles waste
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Follows all safety and sanitation procedures
  • Oversees hygiene practices including hand washing and equipment sanitation
  • Ensures proper handling and labeling of allergen-containing products
  • Reports safety hazards or equipment issues
  • Responsible for accident reporting
  • Adheres to all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Contributes to departmental cleaning responsibilities
  • Operates cash registers and handles transactions accurately
  • Follows store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds
  • Ensures security of cash and financial transactions
