Job Requirements

  • minimum of two years' retail grocery experience
  • two years supervisory experience
  • be at least 18 years of age

  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • ability to work well in a team environment
  • ability to answer phones and take special orders
  • ability to perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties
  • ability to operate bakery equipment including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and lift/move trays and items up to specified weights
  • adherence to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
  • obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit

Job Qualifications

  • be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of two years' retail grocery experience and two years supervisory experience
  • be dependable and reliable having the ability to work flexible schedule that changes including night, weekends, and holidays
  • have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers
  • have good communication skills and the ability to give and take direction participating in a team environment
  • be able to answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping in the department, clean and sanitize work area including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.
  • be able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
  • use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
  • be able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
  • be able to transfer trays up to 5 lbs. vertically from 7 inches to 64 inches for up to 10 hours, and transfer items up to 40 lbs. vertically/horizontally for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
  • adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit

Job Duties

  • assist the bakery manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
  • responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the bakery team
  • execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
  • monitor in-coming cases for damaged items
  • ensure the delivery of excellent customer service and monitor the quality of bakery product
  • unload and sort through store deliveries, operate, and maintain deli equipment
  • ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations, and validate that other bakery team members are also following these procedures
