Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent of eight years relevant experience
  • Four years experience at a general aviation or commercial service airport including one year lead or supervisory experience
  • Airport Certified Employee status or ability to obtain within one year
  • ICS 100, ICS 200, NIMS 700, and NIMS 800 certifications
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and be on call for emergencies
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Background clearance including criminal conviction history
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management abilities
  • Knowledge of applicable FAA regulations and compliance
  • Ability to operate computers and heavy airport equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent of eight years relevant experience
  • Four years experience at a general aviation or commercial service airport including one year lead or supervisory experience
  • Ability to build effective teams and foster open communication
  • Comfortable working with higher management and public leaders
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational agility and project management knowledge
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations including Snow and Ice Control Plan, 7460 Notice Process, Wildlife Mitigation, Safety policies
  • Knowledge of Commercial airport operations and TSA regulations
  • Ability to manage consultants and complex assignments
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Ability to maintain background clearance including criminal conviction history

Job Duties

  • Directs the day-to-day operation of Boulder Airport ensuring compliance with federal safety, security, facilities, resiliency, and environmental standards
  • Manages preventative maintenance program and coordinates contractors for buildings, hangars, roadways, parking lots, and airfield
  • Oversees inspection and compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and state regulations, managing corrective actions with tenants and users
  • Co-manages delivery of high-level customer service to tenants, pilots, businesses, and community members
  • Co-manages tenant leasing and onboarding processes
  • Assists with community outreach including noise abatement programs
  • Manages airport readiness and safety of runways, taxiways, ramps, and airfield conditions
  • Develops and directs winter operations and snow removal programs
  • Makes real-time strategic decisions regarding airport opening or closure and user activities
  • Acts under Unified Command during emergencies and participates in the Incident Command System
  • Manages FAA safety inspections and leads corrective action efforts
  • Coordinates complex projects involving multiple departments and regulatory agencies
  • Develops and monitors project plans and budgets
  • Provides management and oversight for airport staff and seasonal employees
