Job Requirements
- One year of experience in a healthcare environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and instruction manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows including Word, Excel, email and Internet
- Interest in working with a senior population
- Courteous and friendly interaction with guests, residents and staff
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and delegate assignments
- Competent in organizational and time management skills
- Good judgement, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work flexible schedule
- Regular standing and walking, occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds independently and up to 200 pounds with assistance
- Must be able to push up to 350 pounds (wheelchair)
- Specific vision abilities including close and distance vision
Job Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in social work, recreation, sociology, psychology or related field preferred
- One to three years experience in assisted living or long-term care working with memory care patients preferred
- Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills
- Ability to encourage and motivate older adults
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license with chauffeur’s endorsement
- Demonstrated creative ability
- Strong skills in organization, delegation and consensus building
Job Duties
- Assist in development and oversight of resident activities
- Plan, schedule and conduct programs providing physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for residents
- Attend and coordinate community planned functions including set-up, running and breaking down events
- Assist in preparing and organizing a calendar of events
- Work flexible hours including evenings and every other weekend for planned activity events
- Design, schedule and facilitate Memory Care programs incorporating life skills and dementia-appropriate activities
- Serve as point of contact for families and clinical teams to ensure residents' needs and service plans are met
