Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred
- some custodial experience preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience
- ability to perform very heavy physical work including lifting over 100 pounds occasionally
- ability to perform basic operational functions such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- ability to operate cleaning and lawn equipment
- ability to climb ladders
- ability to work indoors and outdoors under variable environmental conditions
- ability to pass health exam, criminal background check, and drug test
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred
- knowledge of basic custodial methods, supplies, and tools preferred
- two years’ experience in cleaning methods and equipment preferred
- general knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- ability to operate floor strippers, waxers, buffers, and lawn equipment
- ability to work independently after training
- effective communication skills
- ability to follow instructions
- ability to maintain records and prepare reports
- ability to perform simple calculations
- ability to exercise judgment and initiative
- ability to maintain working relationships
Job Duties
- Performs manual activities including cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds
- undertakes unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks such as delivering supplies and reporting needed repairs
- completes site assignments timely
- loads and unloads trucks and cleans and sanitizes spaces
- transports equipment and conducts warehouse duties
- verifies delivery orders and places delivered items appropriately
- delivers supplies to staff
- maintains equipment and monitors fuel, oil, or other fluids
- sweeps, mops, vacuums, strips, waxes, and buffs floors
- cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies
- cleans windows, walls, woodwork, blinds, and fixtures
- dusts and cleans furniture
- empties trash and recycles materials
- sweeps sidewalks and maintains grounds including snow removal and de-icing
- replaces light bulbs
- cleans after students
- raises and lowers flags
- opens and secures buildings
- adjusts HVAC systems
- arranges furniture for events
- establishes effective working relationships and performs other assigned duties
