Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain Fire Fighter Type 2 qualification
- Completion of Introduction to ICS (I-100), Human Factors on the Fire Line (L-180), Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190), Firefighting Training (S-130), IS-700.B
- Completion of a training burn under FFT2 supervision
- Successful completion of arduous physical fitness test
- Ability to operate various types of equipment
- Obtain First Aid, CPR, and all related certifications as required
- Valid driver’s license and compliance with TNC Auto Safety Program
- Adherence to safety and operational protocols
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Fire Fighter Type 2 qualification preferred
- Experience operating fire and utility equipment
- Ability to obtain Fire Fighter Type 2 qualifications including required ICS and fire behavior training
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to pass an arduous physical fitness test
- Experience with off-road driving and vehicle towing preferred
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Multi-lingual and cross-cultural experience appreciated
Job Duties
- Participate in wildland fire operations including ignition, control, mop-up, suppression, and monitoring
- Prepare fire lines and maintain firefighting equipment
- Implement prescribed burns safely and effectively under supervision
- Monitor post-burn conditions and assist with ecological assessments
- Maintain professional development by learning new fire techniques and equipment
- Build and sustain relationships with fire and local communities
- Comply with safety protocols and operational guidelines during all fire activities
