Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field
  • Completion of accredited field school or commensurate CRM field experience in California or Nevada
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Ability willing to learn and refine skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Compliance with safety and operational protocols
  • Physically able to work in rugged outdoor environments
  • Current driver's license and 4WD vehicle operation skills preferred
  • Ability to hike up to ten miles a day for up to 10 consecutive days
  • Willingness to camp overnight in remote locations as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in anthropology, archaeology, or related field
  • Experience from an accredited archaeological field school or equivalent California or Nevada CRM field experience
  • Proficiency in archaeological survey, site identification, documentation, data collection, and excavation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain effective communication
  • Willingness and ability to learn and refine new skills on the job
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including Native American representatives
  • Compliance with safety protocols and training programs

Job Duties

  • Conduct archaeological surveys to identify and document precontact and historic-era sites
  • Collect and record data accurately using standard archaeological electronic devices and hand tools
  • Participate in excavation operations, assisting with site stratigraphy and artifact recovery
  • Communicate effectively with clients, Native American representatives, and team members to facilitate project goals
  • Adhere to Far Western's Safety Program and operational protocols
  • Adapt to varying field conditions including rugged terrain, remote locations, and different weather
  • Prepare detailed field notes and reports documenting findings and methodologies
