Job Duties
- Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships
- Assist, as required, with store operations
- Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner
- Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy
- Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization
- Ensure that store is sufficiently stocked and ragged out in accordance with the ARC Command Rag Out Calendar
- Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property
- Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management
- Maintain a clean and clutter free work area
- Be well-versed in and comply with, Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual
- Support the work therapy program component by providing beneficiaries an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision
- Comply with cash handling and security standards related to cash register operations, daily sales reports, and bank deposits
- Sort, price, stock and rag out merchandise as directed
- Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color order
- Maintain merchandise displays as directed
- Answer telephone calls in courteous, friendly, professional manner
- Sort a minimum of 300 store quality garments an hour by department
- Assist in moving donations to the sorting table
- Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces per hour of clothing by department on the correct hanger type
- Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices based on style, quality, and condition
- Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on proper racks by department, category and color order
- Sort, clean, ticket, and price various merchandise categories including Bric a Brac, shoes, accessories, domestics, books, records, toys, furniture, and electrical items
- Maintain cleanliness of sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks and parking areas
- Accept donations courteously and efficiently
- Lift up to 100 pounds
- Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment
- Ensure a steady flow of donations to the sorting table
- Perform lawn and garden work as needed
- Bale ragouts and trash as required
