Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • current lifeguard certification
  • current CPR and first aid certification
  • must be able to pass criminal background check
  • must pass tuberculosis screening
  • must pass physical examination
  • must pass drug screening
  • ability to work flexible hours
  • availability during aquatics season (march to august)

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • current lifeguard certification
  • current CPR and first aid certification
  • experience in aquatic safety and supervision
  • ability to work varying hours, days, and shifts
  • good communication and customer service skills
  • ability to instruct swimming classes

Job Duties

  • ensure the safety of patrons of aquatic facilities by preventing and responding to emergencies
  • provide courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staff
  • supervise swimming activities in and around City facilities
  • rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning
  • administer first aid in the event of injury
  • assist in cleaning the pool related facilities and equipment
  • instruct classes in the fundamentals of swimming
  • adhere to and maintain a positive attitude towards the City and Department goals
  • perform other related work as required
