Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, or related field preferred
  • Two years of experience in the recreation field required
  • Two years of supervisory experience required
  • Any combination of education and experience totaling four years may be considered
  • Current certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid required
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license required

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prepare and manage departmental budgets
  • Knowledge of water rescue methods and pool maintenance
  • Ability to use computers and software including Word and Excel

Job Duties

  • Administers and supervises the activities and personnel of the Aquatics Division
  • Interviews, hires, trains, schedules, and oversees lifeguards and head lifeguards
  • Plans, organizes, promotes, and evaluates aquatic programs including swim lessons, camps, and pool parties
  • Ensures pool rules, regulations, and safety standards are followed by patrons and enforced by staff
  • Responds to inquiries and concerns from swimmers, parents, and the public
  • Coordinates and manages rental contracts with local swim teams, swim school, and books rentals for private parties and events
  • Utilizes RecDesk software for program registration, roster management, daily deposits, payments, and membership administration
