Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, aquatic management or related field preferred
  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in recreation, aquatics, or public service
  • Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability
  • Must be available weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call hours
  • Proven ability in oral and written communication
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public
  • Drug-free workplace status and pass drug testing including marijuana
  • Ability to perform medium work including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and crowds
  • Commitment to departmental rules, regulations, ethics, and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Aquatic Management or related field preferred
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred or ability to obtain within six months
  • Proven ability in oral and written communication
  • Experience in recreation, aquatics, or public service
  • Skill in computer operation and use of modern office equipment
  • Knowledge of recreation programming and safety practices
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Ability to apply management principles
  • Ability to interpret technical material and prepare reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively with public and officials
  • Physical ability to perform medium work tasks

Job Duties

  • Assist in planning, supervision, and daily operations of The Big Splash
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise seasonal aquatics staff
  • Develop and implement aquatic programming such as swim lessons and community events
  • Support development of policies and procedures for pool safety, operations, and customer service
  • Assist in managing the aquatics budget and monitoring cost recovery
  • Coordinate training schedules and certifications for aquatics staff
  • Ensure outstanding customer experiences through communication and professionalism
  • Deliver strategic and departmental program support
  • Collaborate on department-wide initiatives like inclusion programs and community engagement
  • Assist in design, implementation, and evaluation of strategic programs
  • Support data collection and reporting for program evaluation
  • Identify and secure partnership and sponsorship opportunities
  • Participate in grant writing and pilot projects
  • Serve as team representative at community meetings and events
  • Demonstrate leadership and supervise part-time and seasonal staff
  • Promote departmental values in all interactions
  • Maintain contact with city personnel, volunteers, and public
  • Maintain required licensures and certifications
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and work evenings and weekends
  • Meet job safety and OSHA standards
  • Follow departmental rules, regulations, and ethical conduct
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
