Job Requirements

  • must have transportation to work
  • high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • able to work in all elements including heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • employees must always have required tools
  • work from all types of ladders including step ladders up to 14 feet, A-frame ladders, and all size extension ladders
  • able to relocate a 12-foot step ladder alone
  • perform work at various heights up to 90 feet
  • work in restricted areas such as switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics
  • always wear personal protective equipment including hard hats, safety glasses, and respirators when required
  • repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with overtime and night shifts as needed
  • willing to apply for and maintain a State of Texas Electrical Apprentice License

Job Qualifications

  • high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • ability to read and comprehend safety rules and policies
  • basic mechanical skills
  • willingness to learn electrical trade
  • good physical health to perform required physical activities
  • ability to work in various weather conditions
  • able to follow instructions under supervision
  • teamwork and communication skills

Job Duties

  • assist electricians by performing tasks under direct supervision
  • keep materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion
  • maintain a clean work area
  • demonstrate safe work habits and proper tool care
  • conduit bending
  • install electrical equipment such as switchgear, panels, and starters
  • pull and terminate wire
  • install light fixtures
  • install lighting controls
  • install all types of devices
  • troubleshoot electrical systems
  • read and comprehend safety rules and MSDS sheets
