Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant management experience
  • Ability to supervise and lead teams effectively
  • Strong organizational and financial management skills
  • Knowledge of recreation facility operations and programming
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively
  • Willingness to work varying schedules including nights and weekends
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to comply with City policies and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, public administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in recreation or aquatic facility management
  • Experience supervising multiple supervisors and diverse teams
  • Strong financial acumen with budget preparation and management experience
  • Knowledge of recreation programming, facility operations, and aquatic safety standards
  • Proficient in computer applications and recreation management software
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including varying shifts and weekends
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and evaluate recreation programs
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Assist the Apex Centre Manager in management and administration
  • Oversee planning, design, implementation, and management of recreation and aquatic programs
  • Supervise division supervisors for aquatics, customer service, recreation, and fitness
  • Monitor and report daily revenue and expenses to ensure fiscal success
  • Provide customer service training and maintain service excellence
  • Prepare multi-million dollar budget projections including expenditures and revenues
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and facility building
  • Conduct investigations of accidents and incidents and prepare reports
  • Manage scheduling, training, and evaluation of full and part-time staff
  • Coordinate regular staff meetings and education sessions
  • Develop, market, and implement revenue generating programs and services
  • Analyze service charges and delivery costs and recommend improvements
  • Maintain compliance with all operational policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Act as a liaison between facility divisions to promote collaboration and communication
