The City of Huntsville's Animal Services Department is a dedicated public service organization responsible for managing and safeguarding the welfare of animals within the city limits and the unincorporated areas of Madison County. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • some experience with domestic and wild animals
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • ability to handle and care for animals safely and humanely
  • good physical fitness
  • clear background check

Job Duties

  • Protecting, assisting, educating, catching, confining, and caring for stray or diseased dogs or other wildlife
  • enforcing animal control ordinances and state laws
  • disposing of stray or diseased animals in accordance with regulations
  • providing community education on animal safety and control
  • responding to animal-related emergencies and complaints
  • maintaining records and reports related to animal services
  • collaborating with community organizations for animal welfare initiatives
