Job Requirements
- Be 18 years or older
- possess a high school diploma or GED
- have two years of relevant experience
- able to lift over 100 pounds
- willing to obtain required certifications
- resident of Wakulla County
- possess a valid Florida driver's license
- pass a background investigation
- pass a driver’s license check
- pass a drug screening
- available to work weekends, early and late shifts
- available for on-call duties
- available on short notice
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- two years of experience in animal welfare or control environment, public health, law enforcement, or related field
- ability to lift animals and equipment over 100 pounds
- willingness to obtain ACO and euthanasia certification within six to eight months
- previous public interaction experience preferred
- valid Florida driver's license
Job Duties
- Responding to citizen calls for service
- inspecting and licensing kennels within Wakulla County
- making oral presentations to schools and groups on animal control issues
- issuing notices of violations and hearing notices
- serving legal processes as a process server
- preparing written and oral reports for contested cases
- assisting prosecuting attorney's office and sheriff's office in animal-related cases
- supporting daily operations and maintenance of the animal shelter
