Job Requirements

  • Must be familiar with hotel layout, products, services, amenities, and history
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • experience with event booking software a plus
  • professional, reliable, organized and detail-oriented
  • two years previous catering or conventions experience preferred
  • prior sales experience preferred
  • prior hotel experience preferred
  • extensive food and beverage knowledge is preferred
  • full understanding of Microsoft Office
  • catering software experience is preferred
  • graduate of an accredited hospitality bachelors program preferred
  • ability to stand, walk and run regularly
  • ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects
  • ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
  • ability to talk or hear regularly
  • occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • vision ability including close, distance and peripheral vision

Job Qualifications

  • Two years previous catering or conventions experience preferred
  • prior sales experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Market are divided into social and corporate and will be defined at time of interview
  • acquire business through solicitation, accepting daily inquiries and arranging repeat events
  • ensure that all planning deadlines are met
  • analyze client needs and assist them in developing a program that would best meet these needs while making the most efficient and effective use of hotel facilities
  • plan menus for clients according to hotel food and beverage standards
  • arrange meeting requirements, additional rooms needed, VIP arrangements, audio visual needs, guest room accommodations, etc
  • communicate any unusual circumstances or requests to appropriate management personnel
  • maximize revenue by up-selling hotel products and services
  • initiate special forms for requirements that have been previously agreed upon by contract, letter, discussion, etc
  • prepare banquet event orders in a timely manner for distribution
  • act as liaison between the client and hotel departments, meeting and greeting clients on arrival and overseeing the event while in house
  • coordinate credit, billing and payment arrangements for client
  • assist supervision of accuracy and efficiency of function book entries and forecasting
  • oversee daily operation of the Catering Department including plans and special projects
  • coordinate departmental efforts and communication with catering, conventions and other hotel departments by attendance at regular meetings
  • participate in an aggressive hospitality program, greeting all guests with warmth and enthusiasm, and be attentive to their needs while they are with us
  • learn and follow all hotel policies and procedures pertaining to your area of work
  • practice safety standards and report all unsafe conditions
  • provide fast and courteous service to our guests
  • conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times as a goodwill ambassador of the AGPH to ensure guest satisfaction
  • ability to follow established guidelines, procedures and policies
  • maintain good record of attendance and punctuality at work
  • adherence to prescribed grooming and appearance standards
  • ability to organize and expedite engineering service
